Public access to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore must be protected

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is a trademark of Northern Michigan. Whether biking, swimming, hunting, fishing, camping or hiking, it serves as a major tourism destination that supports the local economy through access to beaches, lakes, dunes and rivers.
We understand the importance of the park to the local economy, which is why we have worked with local stakeholders and the National Park Service to develop a compromise agreement that maintains access to the park's brilliant features and promotes conservation.
It is a national treasure that needs to be preserved for future generations in a way that does not restrict how they will enjoy and experience the park.
We have introduced the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Conservation and Recreation Act that will designate as wilderness 32,557 acres of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in accordance with the final General Management Plan and Wilderness Study agreed upon by the local community.
